School Open evenings – what is it all about?

School open evenings are a vital part of exploring the various schools you have access to. Making sure you prepare for them to ensure you have the best experience possible and extract as much information as you can is important. Finding the right school or preschool for your child is a huge responsibility. Our teachers, staff, and pupils are well prepared to answer any questions whiles on your guided tour of the school and get a true feel and sense of our school.

When are the opening evenings / open days at Heathfield Knoll?

Our open evenings are typically held in September over several days. Each stage of our school has an individual open time, which means that you will fully experience the setting you are looking at for your child.

What can I expect at an open evening / open day?

During our open events, you can expect to see various teachers your child would be learning under, as well as their classroom and outdoor spaces they will have access to. We like to make sure that you experience the full effect of our school so activities will be in session when people come to visit. This enables you to understand how we function as a school. Before you visit we have a virtual tour you can download here. Taking time in your own home to view the school before you visit us will help you get a better understanding of our setting. You can use this time to write down any questions you may have while you explore the school.

Questions to ask at an open evening / open day;

What is your wrap-around care times? We understand that in today’s society both parents work extremely hard to provide for their children. As such we have wrap-around care to assist with the various hours parents work. Ask our team more about it. Ask us about our After School Activities. We understand the importance of physical activity combined with a rigorous educational program. Offering students the opportunity to explore various afterschool activities is a great way to engage them in new activities as well as meeting other students across the school. What are you doing to support children’s mental health and wellness? Over the years wellness and children’s mental health have become an important topics across all schools. At Heathfield Knoll take the wellness of our students seriously. We have full well-being and mental health strategies in place and in the summer achieved the national School Wellbeing Award; You can read more here. In summary, we focus on prevention by building a calm and safe environment, we identify quickly which enables us to offer early support as well as any specialist support which is needed.
