Facing Your Fears!

Our Year 7 and 8 pupils have been taking on some serious challenges today as part of the HK YET Award, heading to the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus for a day designed to push them outside their comfort zones.

From high ropes to water-based activities, pupils have been testing themselves, supporting one another and discovering that things which can look daunting at first are often much more achievable once you take that first step.

There have been plenty of nerves, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, plenty of pupils challenging themselves to have a go.

Developing resilience, determination and teamwork — and learning that sometimes “I can’t do it...” simply needs the addition of one very important word: “yet”.

Well done everyone. Looks like you all had a fantastic day. 😀

Well done Everyone! Should be proud of yourselves.

Mistakes & Resilience

Resilience is a key part of what we do at Heathfield Knoll. We want our pupils to understand that getting something wrong, making a mistake or even failing at something isn’t something to be avoided. It’s part of learning.

That’s why we deliberately create opportunities for pupils to ‘fail’ in a safe and structured environment, where they can have another go, learn from what went wrong and discover that they are often capable of much more than they first thought.

Because confidence doesn’t come from always getting things right. It comes from knowing that when things don’t go to plan, you can pick yourself up, learn from it and try again.

Our Open Morning is tomorrow — come and see for yourself what makes Heathfield Knoll such a special place to learn and grow.

We want every pupil to discover what they are capable of, to have the confidence to try something new, make mistakes, take on challenges and keep going. From the classroom to the sports field, the stage to the great outdoors, there are countless opportunities for pupils to find their strengths and build confidence along the way.

Take a look at our video, then come and see it for yourself tomorrow.

We’d love to welcome you to Heathfield Knoll.

HK YET Award Launch Day for Juniors!

The new academic year has got off to an adventurous start for some of our Junior pupils, who headed to the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus for a day of ‘facing your fears’ as part of the launch of this year’s HK YET Award.

The day is all about stepping outside comfort zones, trying things that might initially seem daunting and discovering what we are capable of when we challenge ourselves. Through a mixture of activities and challenges, pupils have been developing resilience, teamwork, determination and a willingness to have a go.

There have been plenty of laughs, a few nerves and lots of moments of ‘I can’t do it... yet!’ — exactly what the HK YET Award is all about.

A fantastic start to the year and to another year of Enrich, Challenge and Prepare.
