Reception Transition

The children joining Reception Class next term have enjoyed visiting their new classroom, getting to know their new teachers and taking part in lots of fun activities as a part of their smooth transition into Reception. Leaving Preschool or Nursery behind and entering into Reception is a big step for the children and their families. When the children set off for their first day at ‘big school’, they will be full of positive emotions and this happens when they know exactly where they are going, who will be there and what they will be able to do when they get there. As a part of their transition, the children have enjoyed a very messy art morning, exploring the library and a Forest School session. Miss Evans, the Reception teacher, said “the transition sessions are a really important opportunity to build relationships with the children and to learn about each unique child. The children familiarise themselves by spending time in their new environment with their new teachers. Most importantly, the children will be excited and happy to be coming to ‘big school’ in September.”
