Uniform is an essential part of every school. At Heathfield Knoll, our pupils take pride in their uniforms. It helps create a sense of unity across the school. No matter what year group you are in, or what sports team you are part of, our uniform unites us all under one common goal. Uniforms can be confusing, especially when you are starting a new school. So here is a breakdown of the Heathfield Knoll Lower School uniform.

Heathfield Knoll Unisex Uniform

Each pupil regardless of gender is required to have the following items:

Lower school (Reception to Year 4):

Food apron
Winter Coat – Plain Navy, Warm With Hood
Summer Waterproof Coat – Plain Navy, Thin, With Hood
Black Shoes – Plain
Navy Hat, Scarf, Gloves (Optional)
Ruck-sack – with logo (Dancer’s) *or plain black/navy blue
Pump Bag for PE – Plain Navy/Black
Pump Bag for Forest School – Plain Navy/Black

Sportswear:

History behind school uniforms

School uniforms have been part of the English school culture as far as we can remember. However, the first record school uniform was in 1922 by the Archbishop of Canterbury. In his journals, he detailed the robe-like outfits, also known as the “Cappa Clausa”, that each of his students wore. Since then school uniforms have been adopted across the UK and are now part of everyday school life in England. Now students and schools take pride in their uniforms and wear them with a sense of community.
