Heathfield Knoll is an independent school in Worcestershire where children from the age of four form a strong relationship with their class teachers. Our small classes provide a strong and caring environment that enhances teaching and learning. We ensure that every child progresses well and is happy and involved in their learning.
Nurturing Environment
Small classes and close relationships between staff, children and families create a setting where all children can progress and achieve as individuals.
Specialist Teachers
Children from Reception have access to specialist teachers and learning environments for subjects such as Drama, PE, STEAM, Music and Food Technology.
Challenging Curriculum
Knowledge of our children allows teachers to ensure children are challenged appropriately and supported closely where needed.
life in lower school
We adopt a creative, yet personalised, approach to education allowing each child to flourish and to enjoy their learning. Getting to know our children and families allows us to use topics that the children are interested in, to tailor activities inside and outside of the classroom and to provide opportunities that further develop interests and strengths.
Teaching at Heathfield Knoll
Teachers plan their lessons around the National Curriculum but as an independent school we are not restricted by it, this allows teachers to teach the basics of the curriculum plus so much more. Assessments are done regularly to follow pupils’ progress but Heathfield Knoll does not do SATS. Pupils are encouraged to embrace their interests and challenge themselves.
Forest School
Forest School helps pupils to use tools, encourages hand-eye coordination, promotes teamwork and lets pupils explore the natural environment around them by taking risks but in a safe environment. Forest School helps to develop self-esteem, confidence, independence and responsibility.
Learning outside of the classroom
With 30 acres of mixed woodland on-site, pupils have access to a wide range of outdoor learning environments. Our fleet of minibuses allows further opportunities to travel further afield to the Worcestershire, Shropshire and Birmingham areas and enhance learning.
"We adopt a creative, yet personalised, approach to education allowing each individual to flourish across the curriculum and excel in the areas they are most passionate about."
Hannah Griffiths Assistant Headteacher Head of Reception to Year 6
