My time at Heathfield Knoll – Captain of School

I joined Heathfield School in Year 5 and it’s been like a second home to me ever since. I was very shy and scared when I joined, but I really shouldn’t have been. In the first few days, I made some of the friends that I still have today and hope to have for a long time in the future!

Heathfield Knoll has prepared me for the future very well. It’s not only been a place where I can get my head down and achieve my goals, but also somewhere where I can genuinely enjoy myself in a nurturing and caring environment.

The past year has been a bit of a challenge with having to resort to remote learning. At times, we’ve all struggled, especially with the stress and the uncertainty surrounding GCSEs, but thanks to our incredibly understanding and caring teachers, we’ve been encouraged to keep going and have been supported throughout.

My favourite memory of Heathfield Knoll was going to Edale as part of our training for Bronze DofE. Of course there are moments like stopping at a service station to get ridiculous amounts of food, but points where we were also pushed out of our comfort zones. Even though many of the activities seemed impossible at the time, we all managed to complete them with the support we gave each other.

In summary, my time at Heathfield Knoll has been amazing. I’ve achieved goals that I’m proud of and have made friendships that I hope to have for a long time. While I’m sad to leave somewhere that has been like a second home to me, I know that the continuous support from Heathfield Knoll has prepared me well for the future.
